Worked on the Game Design Document with Alex.

Other: I didn't blog last week becuase of thanksgiving. I was out of town and didn't have internet access all week.

Week 9

So I am aware that I skipped a week, and I really want to appologize. I installed first the Internet explorer beta, and then the Full release on Internet Explorer. Both seriosly harmed my computer, You would think I would have learned after the beta to not install it right? I did not realize it was what killed my computer the first time. So basically I have been without computer for the past few weeks. I am so sorry.

Now on to the good stuff

Measurable Outcomes:
The poster is done.

Communication:
Met with Lori to go over the poster. Made 2 small changes and now it is done.

Next weeks goals:
Start working on the shadows of canaveral game design document with Alex.

Reflections:
The poster turned out well, i am very happy with it.

Other:
Microsoft is obviosly the devil.

Week 7

Measurable Outcomes:
Began Working on the poster for Lori, found and edited the main image

Communication:
I met with Lori on Wednesday. We went over the poster and what i had done. She liked the graphic I found but wanted some changes. I had those changes for her by friday.

More work on the poster

Reflections:
I have never done a poster before so this is interesting

Other:
I've been having computer problems which make the project and posting harder.

Week

Measurable Outcomes:
I Redid Lori's Website

Communication:
I met with Lori on Wednesday. We talked about the changes i made to the website, and some additional changes she still wanted.

Next weeks goals:
The rest of the website needs to be fixed by Saturday.

Reflections:
I've been using a whole lot of photoshop and Dreamweaver so far for this project. I'm glad i have been using them for a long time. I really wish i had learned more about them in school and had to spend less time on my own learning them.

Other:
Sometimes what the client tells you isn't correct. The client told me to use a certain font, but it turns out it was a different font. Lol.

Week 5

Measurable Outcomes:
I made the changes that Lori wanted on the banner.

Communication:
I met with Lori on Thursday, We talked about the changes she wanted to the banner, and to the website.

Next weeks goals:
By the end of this weekend the website should be finished. The banner should be started for Wednesday.

Reflections:
She snuck in an early deadline, which caused me to have to do quite a bit of work this weekend, and i was a little annoyed seeing i have a test on Tuesday and didn't get a chance to study as much as i would have liked.

Other:
Working on websites made by other people is a pain.

Week 4

Sorry this update is a little late, I got caught up in getting a job.

Measurable Outcomes:
I made a banner for one of Lori's websites. I made several different proofs in both photoshop and in my sketch book. She liked one of the ones i did and i will be redoing it with different fonts and different font placements.

Communication:
I met with Lori on Thursday, which is our new weekly meeting day, because it is more convenient for me. We discussed different ideas for the poster she wants made for ist.

Next weeks goals:
Do several more versions of the banner with a different font, and make it into a web page that Lori can post on her site.

Reflections:
This week went very well. I hope the rest of them go as smoothly.

Other:
I got a job!

Week 3

Measurable Outcomes:
For this week I worked on my first car model, the Chevy truck. As I spent more and more time on it without getting the results I wanted, it became obvious my modeling skills just weren't good enough to do the kind of models that Lori needed.

Communication:
I met with Lori today for our weekly meeting. I explained my modeling problem, and asked if there was another part of the project better suited to my skill set. She was happy to tell me that she had found a real modeler for the project and would be glad to let me work on updating the website and doing a game design instead. She laid out a long list of things for the website that needs to get done.

Next weeks goals:
Update the links on the main part of Lori's website, and start working on a banner for the 64 worlds fair site. Also come up with some layout ideas for a poster about the virtual heritage project.

Reflections:
I am much better with web design and photoshop than I am with modeling. I am in Digital imagery this semester so I am going to use some of the things I have learned in the classroom on this project.

Other:
I am really glad Lori switched me to another part of the project because I was really stressed out about the shear number of hours I spent on my first model, just to have it not be very good.

Week 2 Sept 4 - 10th

Measurable Outcomes
I looked up reference photographs on the internet. While this may seem like an easy task, it isn't because for 3d modeling you need reference photos from every conceivable view. I did find all the photos I needed for the truck. I am going to be modeling it based on a 1949 Chevy, which meats the clients requirements. The 4 door sedan and semi truck proved to be much more difficult. The second half of the list I didn't have time to look for.

Communication
Lori and I had our weekly meeting on Tuesday. We discusses which vehicles I was able to find reference for. She was pleased with the truck and asked me to start production of the model this week. She also said she would use some of her history teacher resources to find reference photos for other vehicles.

Next Weeks goals
Begin production on the truck model.

Reflections
I took realtime modeling in the spring semester, but I don't feel like I learned very much. So this is going to be a crash course in modeling. I looked online and found some tutorials that will hopefully help me, but it still won't be easy.

Other
I have a copy of Maya 3d 7 I bought in spring semester, but now Maya 8 is out and it has both 64 bit and dual core support, and I have a 64 bit dual core processor. Sigh, sometimes software companies can be really annoying.

Measurable Outcomes - Since this is the first week of the semester and the project there are no measurable outcomes yet. But the plans have been made for what I should accomplish for the rest of the semester. I will be working on some of the model for Shadows of Canaveral Phase 1 and Phase 2. There are 6 specific models I will need to complete before the end of the semester. They are:

1. Semi Cab
2. 4 Door Sedan
3. WW2 Jeep
4. 1962 corvette
5. Panel Van
6. Station Wagon

To make these models I will need to find source images from all angles.

Communication -
Lori Walters, My client emailed me at the beginning of the week to set up a meeting. In addition she asked me to help find her modelers if possible. She asked me to meet again next week at the same time we met this week.

Next Weeks Goals -
For next week I agreed to look up model pics and identify and problems. The goal is to make sure I have everything I need to start production of models.

Reflections -
So all the experience I gained through the Red Bull Project, about working with clients has been invaluable. Lori wants me to do modeling, and while I have some exeriance modeling with Maya, I don't know 3d studio max at all. So I need to learn 3d studio max as a part of this project.

Other -
I am worried about how the modeling is going to go. But if I work hard and get some books, hopefully I stand a chance.
